From the Hub and from the Heart:
Jeanetta Davis

When Jeanetta Davis needed assistance 24 years ago, she came to the American Red Cross.  Lucky for our organization, Jeanetta stayed, citing one of the American Red Cross’ slogans as the initial reason: “Get to know us before you need us.”  Jeanetta made certain that she “got to know” the American Red Cross first by volunteering in Emergency Services and Disaster Relief, then eventually taking on a receptionist position on December 12, 1990, a date she still remembers fondly.  Jeanetta was in between work and looking for a way to help her community and thought of Red Cross as “the perfect place to help change a life, to help touch a life.”

Red Cross Ball - How it Helps

The annual Red Cross Ball is not only a major fundraiser  for the Washtenaw County Chapter – it’s become one of the most memorable annual evenings of elegant dining and music, which does so much good in this community. Corporate sponsors reserve tables, in-kind donations are solicited, desired auction items are donated, individual tickets are sold, culminating in raising the much needed funds to support life-saving programs for our county community. This year’s Ball co-chairs, Joe and Beth Fitzsimmons, along with their dedicated committee members are planning to envelop guests in another fabulous setting at the Barton Hills Country Club on Saturday October 30th.  This year’s theme will include a Masquerade – guests will be encouraged to wear elegant masks of their own, or those available at the gala.  Tickets are still available for $500 per couple. To purchase tickets, contact Lisa Ziske at the Chapter, 734-971-5300 or email her at lisa.ziske@wc-redcross.org.
