Dear Friends of the Red Cross, 
A phone call in the middle of the night is unsettling for anyone, but when you know that a soldier, perhaps your soldier, needs to connect with family, the Red Cross is there. The support systems of the Red Cross to communicate, provide logistics, give comfort and bring home the soldier when needed are all better served because of your presence here this evening. As our major supporters, you should know how much your care and willingness to be there for our soldiers has real impact on their lives. Thank you so very much for caring enough to make the Red Cross a part of your plans this evening, and in the years ahead.
We are pleased to have in our presence this evening Hays Parks, a retired Colonel and lifelong public servant with a list of accomplishments to his name from his experience in the field, to the halls of Congress. He has seen the Red Cross support system in action and will give us a first-hand look at life with the Red Cross as a tool used to great effect. He will also give us a bit of insight into the happenings in the world and how it may impact us at home. His straight forward, no-nonsense approach will enlighten us all, but also impart confidence that leaders like Hays are working every day to ensure our security is maintained.
Since my grandfather was the chair of the Red Cross in the 1930s, our family has always believed in supporting its programming with consistent voluntary and financial assistance. Giving back is both a right and a responsibility that we share with each of you here tonight. Lisa and I invite you to enjoy this evening and take away from it a sense of pride in our Red Cross, our soldiers and community, knowing that you make a difference and have a real impact on the lives of those in need.
